The 2007 Reach The City programme is over. Bristol was the location for our only summer activity this year. The training and evangelism week run from 1st to 7th July. On Friday 6th there was again a celebration, this time in Pip 'n Jay church in central Bristol.
Give thanks for:
Here are the updates. We hope to bring a final report soon.
29th June
Stefan Hoefler and Andreas Wiesinger arrived safely from Austria yesterday, and Katka arrived from Slovakia, Korky has just collected the American contingent from Bristol airport and delivered them to Trinity College, and tomorrow Romans will be here and Chris Mathieson and Pat Paddock, so the troops are gathering! We have about 30 OAC Staff to do the training and the initial demo. outreach meetings, and about 40 trainees, most of whom will be based at Trinity college where the seminars will take place starting on Monday.....
Open air meetings in Broadmead 1.30 to 3 pm daily next week from Monday, but starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Evenings at the Watershed, down by the statue of Neptune at 7.30 p.m. to start with - ending about 9 p.m.
Big celebration meeting on Friday night 6th July at Pip'n'Jay ! COME IF YOU CAN!
Please pray particularly for the families of the team - one lady couldn't come at the last minute from the USA as her mother is desperately ill but her husband has come as he is the group leader. Pray too for Juan Gines, Pat's husband, who has been off work with tendon problems (he is a bus driver) for a couple of days last week.
We may also have a slight problem with getting Katka to Stansted for a 10.am. flight back to Vienna on Monday 9th - she has a ticket to Victoria Coach Station - it's really a case of "I wouldn't start from here if I were you!".
The rain has partly affected the activities, especially in the evenings, but we are grateful that the Lord has allowed afternoon open airs to continue virtually without break. Pray on!
Training is going well and the 40 'odd' trainees are getting to grips with boards, illustrations and mimes. Now it is their turn to 'take to the streets' and we need you to pray as they put their first presentations into practice.
Most of the team are well on their way home, the last leave tomorrow.
We are grateful to the Lord that despite the plentiful rain Monday to Thursday, we were able to hold all but one Open Air session and that the rain held off so well during these outreaches.
Even more we rejoice that we were able to speak with so many people and a number made decisions to follow Christ for the first time.
Finally, we rejoice that the work has only just begun for many of the trainees as they return home to put their newly acquired skills into effect. The Bristol crew decided that they must keep the Broadmead outreach going and have agreed to meet monthly. Ken Milwood will be the coordinator.
Conclusions can now be read in the full report.
No outreach is planned for 2007. The team, after ten years of effective outreach decided it is time to take a sabbatical break from RTC. In all they give thanks for the over 200 local believers and more than 700 from the rest of the world who contributed to the outreaches, being thereby motivated and trained in evangelism. The local team are doing several smaller outreaches this summer across the city and further afield.
