OAC New Zealand is reaching out to islands of the South Pacific, including Samoa. Located astride the date line, just south of the equator, Samoa consists of two large volcanic islands and seven small islands. Missionaries reached these islands over a century ago, but each generation needs to be evangelised. Today, there is a high rate of teenage suicide and a great need to provide a message of hope for the future. Robert Siakimotu of OAC NZ shared the good news of the gospel with more than 800 students for nearly an hour. Youth for Christ staff members are visiting this school and others where students responded, to conduct Bible studies with them. Local Christians and YFC staff were trained in open air evangelism and during practical outreaches took the message of Christ to the market place and bus depot. Similar training and ministry is also being done in Tonga, Cook Islands and Vanuatu, where OAC NZ plans to establish national branches.
