OACI Update, 2003

Ukraine

For 130 years Ukraine suffered unrelenting persecution in which millions of Christians were killed. Since independence was declared in 1991, evangelical churches have nearly doubled. Though hardships and crime exist under a struggling democracy, most people are open to the gospel.Even on an icy cold winter's night, a spiritually hungry crowd in Kiev listens intently to the god news preached by Anatolly, one of our Ukrainian evangelists. Counselling continues for long periods by Bible College and church teams. In virtually every meeting, people pray to trust in Christ. In orphanages, lonely and rejected children wait for yet another week when our staff will come again to present a programme about the loving Saviour.
