INDIA

Almost two thirds of those living in the Punjab area are Sikhs, and the other third, Hindus. Of these, only 1% is Christian.

Each of the primitive village homes has a concrete or mud shelter. These shelters are built with 18 inch thick walls, because the village is only two miles inside the border of Pakistan, and the shelters are to hide in, to avoid bullets, should war begin between the two countries.

In this area, our OAC evangelists have conducted open air outreaches using films and preaching. The pastor always accompanied them.

The pastor’s father was a drug addict, but his mother was a Christian. She became a Christian through reading a tract. In his youth, the pastor wanted to kill Christians, but at his father’s urgings, he finally considered Christ. Soon he became a believer, and was totally transformed.

Although his people tried to kill him, the pastor’s faith grew, and he felt God’s call to become a pastor. Now he shepherds nearly 200 new Christians in 7 house churches.

The pastor (in the pink shirt) is pictured here with one of these congregations. He thanks God for OAC, and says that over 100 of his flock were reached through their open air meetings.
