UKRAINE

Although Ukraine is still going through political struggles, after being freed from Communism in 1991, our Ukrainian evangelists enjoy the freedom to openly preach the gospel.

Recently, they trained and led four teams from Baptist churches, on a mission trip across Ukraine. The four teams rode bicycles, and each went in a different direction from Kiev. Their journey lasted for 10 days. This saw the teams reach more than 16,000 through open air evangelism.

In villages, where horses still pull carts and women gather hay with pitchforks, OAC works with churches in evangelistic outreaches. During one such open air meeting, the mayor of a village brought food for our staff. She had been led to Christ by one of our evangelists a few years earlier, and now a church meets in her house.

In Kiev, a city of over 3 million people, OAC evangelists preach to good crowds in the downtown centre, as our photo shows. Young people, who gather to listen, are sadly, searching for happiness through alcohol, drugs, and immorality. The good news of salvation brings hope to many of them. In another preaching locations, several people have come to Christ and been baptised from the open air meetings we have held.
