Teen Magic Teenagers thronging to a Gospel message sounds like a conjuring feat in itself according to some people. But young people are enjoying horse riding, canoeing and the Good News about Jesus at Teen Ranch in Perthshire, Scotland. Open Air Campaigners (OAC) workers Roger and Rosemary Gray help with innovative Gospel magic. Rosemary says, “We engage with young people using sketch board illustrations and magic tricks to demonstrate biblical truth. We may use a rope trick of a single rope becoming four to illustrate our links with Jesus or a disappearing card when talking about the empty tomb.” Everything from archery to leather crafts is on offer. Teens choose from a myriad of activities. Both fun and proficiency are encouraged by dedicated Christian staff and volunteers. Teen Ranch Director Bob Ockenden explains the link with OAC, “Although we are two different ministries, we share the same objective. It’s been a wonderful partnership with Roger and Rosemary over the years. Recently, we began a work in Poland but it started when Roger and Rosemary went over there. They met a Polish minister who had prayerfully wanted to establish an outreach like this for eight years. I was able to go over and now we have come alongside him to launch this work.” Roger and Rosemary Gray have been active in Teen Ranch for 14 years and it is encouraging that young people who have come to faith are now serving as camp leaders. Roger and Rosemary live in Glasgow and are available to assist churches with youth work. For more information, please contact them on info@oacscotland.co.uk or visit www.oacscotland.co.uk
