For over 100 years, OAC has followed Christ's command to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel." To Hindus and Muslims in Indian villages; to students in Jamaican public high school; to Spiritists and Catholics in Brazilian plazas; to Indians in central Paraguay; the message of Christ is being preached publicly to thousands every week by our national evangelists. Young and old, rich and poor are being reached with the gospel, and many are responding to Christ.
"How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?" Christ saw the multitudes as sheep without a shepherd, and being moved with compassion, he began teaching them. The early Church went everywhere preaching the word. Philip, the evangelist, traveled from town to town in Judea and Samaria preaching the gospel. The apostle Paul stood daily in the market place of Athens proclaiming Jesus and the resurrection.
Christ taught that he is the only savior of lost mankind. He said, "No-one comes to the Father but by me." Compelled by his love, the Christians evangelized the known world. Today, as multitudes are dying without Christ and without hope, the Lord of the Harvest calls us to be involved in evangelizing the whole world.
"How shall they hear without a preacher?" OAC national evangelists are committed to reaching their own people for Christ. Called by God, they have attended Bible School and have received special training with OAC. They need no visas, orientation, costly support, furloughs or language school. They do, however, need Christians like yourself to help sponsor them as they live and minister by faith.
Using film vans, our evangelists often preach to crowds of over 1,000. Sketchboard messages, music and drama are used to help communicate the gospel. The Lord is blessing these presentations of his word in the open air, schools, hospitals etc to turn many to himself. Hundreds are enrolled in Bible correspondence courses.
OAC believes in Christ's command to "make disciples of all nations, baptising them... teaching them...". With the vast majority of people not willing or able to go to an evangelical church, we must go to the people. our national evangelists are mobilizing churches by leading them out into the harvest fields around them. Following these open-air outreaches, the church takes on the responsibility of discipling those coming to Christ. New churches are also being planted.
"I will build my church." In an area where we see a good response to the gospel, and where no evangelical church exists, we seek to plant a church. By sponsoring and overseeing a pioneer pastor, we can see the fruit of our open-air outreach discipled and multiplied. Sponsors are needed to help support pioneer pastors over a three-year period, after which time their churches are expected to support them.
Potential pioneering pastors are already studying at very good Bible Colleges in countries like India, Brazil and Paraguay. From a single open-air outreach, there is often enough response to begin a house church. In some villages, people are hearing the gospel for the very first time. Pioneer pastors provide the best follow-up.
"How shall they preach, unless they are sent?"
