The great nation south of the Rio Bravo may seem very different to North americans, but it is also part of that continent! Over 80 million people make up the country and most are without hope for the future. Humanly speaking, this means they will do anything to make it to the north. Spiritually, it means we have a clear commission to reach them with the Gospel.
Misael and Taira Hernandez are Mexican nationals, and live in a town called Arandas. Here there are only two evangelical congregations with a total of 92 believers between them, comprising only 0.12% of the population.
Misael was the pioneer pastor of one of these churches, but has now joined OAC to pioneer this ministry of evangelism in Mexico. His ministry will include leading churches out in open air evangelism, either to build up their congregations, or to plant new churches. In this whole area of Mexico, known as the Circle of Silence, there are less than 2% evangelical believers. The spiritual need is great, but the people are very responsive to the gospel.Misael and his wife, Taira, have two children.
